Introducing Scarless Surgery-Free Cancer Treatment
SRT Skin Cancer Treatment
We are proud to be the first dermatology practice in Marin and San Francisco to offer the latest breakthrough in skin cancer treatment: Scarless, Surgery-Free Superficial Radiation Therapy (SRT). This cutting-edge, non-invasive alternative to Mohs surgery delivers exceptional results with ultrasound-guided precision, a 99% cure rate, and 99% patient satisfaction.
After nearly 20 years of performing Mohs surgery, Dr. Zand has seen firsthand the emotional toll that facial surgery and prolonged healing can take on patients. SRT eliminates that worry—allowing you to treat your skin cancer without surgery, without scarring, and without disrupting your active daily life.
What is Scarless, Surgery-Free SRT?
Superficial Radiation Therapy (SRT) is a revolutionary treatment for skin cancers, including basal cell carcinoma (BCC) and squamous cell carcinoma (SCC), that doesn’t require surgery. Unlike conventional treatments, which often involve cutting into the skin, SRT uses precise, targeted radiation to treat skin cancer cells without leaving any scars.
Key Benefits of SRT Include:
- No surgery, no scarring: SRT offers a non-invasive alternative to Mohs and traditional excisional surgery, leaving no visible scars.
- Minimal downtime: Many patients maintain their normal activities throughout treatment, with little to no recovery time.
- Highly effective: SRT is an excellent treatment option for superficial skin cancers, delivering precise radiation to eliminate cancer cells without damaging surrounding tissue.
- Painless procedure: The treatment is well-tolerated and does not require any incisions, stitches, or infection risk.
SRT is ideal for treating cancers located on sensitive areas such as the face, ears, and other regions where cosmetic results are important. It's a perfect choice for patients seeking an effective and aesthetically-friendly approach to skin cancer treatment.

His personalized approach ensures each patient is well-informed about the benefits and process of SRT, and his expertise in radiation oncology makes him an invaluable asset to our team and to our patients.
How Does SRT Work on Skin Cancer?
SRT is particularly effective for superficial skin cancers, like BCC and SCC, located in areas where cosmetic outcomes are crucial. The treatment works by delivering targeted low-dose radiation to the affected area. This radiation penetrates only the outer layers of the skin, disrupting the DNA of cancer cells and preventing them from growing and spreading.
Our expert, Dr. Ankit Agarwal, will ensure that you are comfortable and well-informed throughout the process. His high-level expertise in radiation oncology guarantees the highest level of care.
Following your SRT session, you may experience mild redness or irritation, similar to a sunburn, which typically resolves within a few days. We will provide you with detailed post-treatment care instructions to ensure optimal healing and the best possible results.
The complete treatment plan usually involves multiple sessions over the course of several weeks, depending on the size and depth of the cancerous area. It’s important to attend all follow-up appointments to monitor your progress and ensure a successful outcome.
